Clean Days Kickoff 2015 Recap
Last year, we were super focused on gaining moment for expanding the bike path through the town of Johnston. Groups gathered to show their love of the Greenway and their support of keeping it a safe, beautiful, vital connection between towns and parks along the Woonasquatucket River. Volunteers came together along the bike path through Johnston, focusing on areas from Lyman Ave to Hillside Ave with activities where they:
- Weeded, aerated, & mulched planted beds along 2 miles of Greenway
- Planted flowers at entry points
- Collected 26 tires from the river
- Gathered 59 bags of debris, cleaning up arounds surrounding the bike path
- Hand-painted 12 educational signs
- Removed graffiti
- Spread the word on extending the bike path from 7 to 10 miles through Johnston
This year, we’re kicking off our cleanups in Providence, but we will have activities along all areas of the greenway. Our annual Kickoff event launches into our Clean Days on the Greenway Series where over 1,300 people join WRWC each year to help make the Greenway a more vibrant place.
