Alicia Lehrer, Executive Director

Alicia Lehrer joined the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council as Executive Director in March 2008. Alicia is a Providence resident. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and a Master’s degree in Natural Resources Science with a specialization in Water Quality. Prior to joining the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, Alicia served for ten years as the District Manager of the Southern Rhode Island Conservation District (SRICD) office in Wakefield, Rhode Island. Alicia’s career also included four years as the Volunteer Environmental Monitoring Network Coordinator for the Merrimack River Watershed Council in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and staff at URI Watershed Watch. As Executive Director, Alicia is not only the the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council’s chief administrator, but also actively involved in projects and programs sponsored by the Council.

Lisa Aurecchia, Program Director

Lisa Aurecchia, the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council's Program Director, is a founding staff member. Prior to the existence of the council, Lisa worked on the Woonasquatucket Greenway Project through the Providence Plan. Lisa’s expertise in community outreach, education and organizing brings hundreds of people to the River and Greenway every year as part of events, paddles, and our premier youth training program, River Rangers. Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from URI and studied archaeology and historical geography at Hebrew University. Thanks to Lisa’s work at the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, we have revitalized 42 acres of parkland in the Woonasquatucket Greenway and formed partnerships with artists, businesses, residents, schools and students throughout the watershed.

Amanda Blevins, Program Assistant

Amanda Blevins joined the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council in April 2009 as our Program Assistant. In addition to assisting with day-to-day business operations, Amanda helps design and lead the River Rangers program during the summer and our school educational programs the rest of the year. Amanda began her career in community service and leadership development training with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps from 2002-2003 in South Carolina, and continued working with various youth-serving organizations in San Francisco until moving to Providence in the summer of 2008. Back in New England, Amanda is proud to be sharing her passion for youth leadership development and nature education with the Providence community.
